About chiropractic

Chiropractic is a treatment method in which manual therapy, exercises and counselling are used to treat and prevent various joint, nerve-tissue and muscle problems.

At the start of the visit there is a consultation to get to know the patient's health history, followed by an examination to determine the nature of the problem. This includes assessing the mobility of the patient's spine and joints and the condition of the muscles; if needed, various orthopaedic/neurological tests are added in more detail. Chiropractors are often asked for an overview on posture topics too, and during the visit it becomes clear whether and how much attention the patient should give them.

Chiropractic consists of various joint adjustment and mobilisation techniques and muscle techniques. It is a specific and science-based approach. Often, to achieve the best treatment result, home exercises are given, training, nutrition and work-ergonomics topics are discussed, and acupuncture, electrotherapy, kinesio taping and more are used.

Many people notice a positive treatment effect already after the first visit, but depending on the cause and duration of the problem several sessions may be needed, because the body needs gradual, consistent work. Changes do not all happen overnight. Above all, it is most important to support recovery with conscious exercise, a sensible workload, restorative sleep and a varied diet. If you have struggled with recurring back pain for years or decades, chiropractic is excellent for quick pain relief, but without your own contribution the treatment is unlikely to achieve its full effect.

Chiropractic is suitable for people of all ages, as well as for pregnant women, children and babies.
Chiropractic treatment is very effective and safe when performed by a specialist with the relevant education (always dare to ask about your therapist's education: whether they have a higher education in chiropractic or have instead completed merely a “weekend course”).
